Crypto market slides over 2% on low year-end volumes; Bitcoin hovers near $87,000
The global cryptocurrency market capitalisation fell more than 2%, with Bitcoin and Ethereum trading at $87,331 and $2,952, respectively, as thin year-end trading volumes weighed on risk assets worldwide. Over the past 24 hours, both Bitcoin and Ethereum declined by 2.88%.
Major altcoins also came under pressure, with BNB, XRP, Solana, Tron, Dogecoin, Cardano, and Hyperliquid posting losses of up to 8% during the same period. Overall, the total crypto market value dropped 2.76% to $2.96 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap.
