Alphabet’s Isomorphic Labs Seeks $40 Billion-Plus Valuation in New Funding Talks
Alphabet-backed Isomorphic Labs, the AI-powered drug-discovery company spun out of Google DeepMind, is reportedly in early discussions to raise new capital at a valuation of at least $40 billion. One source said the valuation could reach $50 billion if the talks progress.
The potential valuation would represent a dramatic increase from Isomorphic Labs’ most recent financing.
Just five months ago, the company raised $2.1 billion in Series B funding, led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Alphabet, GV, MGX, Temasek, CapitalG and the UK Sovereign AI Fund.
Isomorphic Labs uses artificial intelligence to accelerate drug discovery and design. Its technology is built around AI models designed to help researchers identify potential drug candidates and understand biological interactions.
The company was founded in 2021 as a spinout from Google DeepMind and is led by Demis Hassabis.
The story highlights a broader shift in the AI investment cycle.
AI is increasingly being applied to:
Isomorphic Labs is also participating in a new $1.8 billion AI-biology initiative involving Google, Meta and the U.S. government to develop large biological datasets for AI research.
A potential $40–$50 billion valuation would show that investors are willing to place enormous value on AI companies that can produce breakthroughs outside traditional software.
The bigger investment question is whether AI can translate technological advances into commercial drugs, successful clinical trials and eventually major healthcare revenues.
The discussions are reportedly early-stage. The financing has not closed, and the valuation, investors and terms could change or the deal could fail to materialize.
Isomorphic Labs is becoming one of the most closely watched AI-biotech companies.
A potential $40 billion-plus valuation would underline the growing belief that AI's next major opportunity may not be only in chips, cloud computing and software—but in drug discovery and life sciences.
